How We Build Walls That Don't Shift

Setting the Base Course
The first row of block sits partially buried below ground. We level each block individually along three axes to make sure the foundation remains completely level.
Drainage Pipe & Geogrid Setup
We lay perforated drain lines behind the wall base, wrapped in filter fabric to prevent clogging. On taller builds, high-tensile geogrid mesh is installed between courses and extended back into the dirt bank to anchor the wall structure.
Aggregate Backfill & Final Grade
Washed gravel fills the space directly behind the wall to drop water pressure instantly. We cap the top layer with topsoil, fine-grade surrounding lawn areas, and clean down the site completely.

Why is drainage such a big deal?
Trapped water ruins more walls than anything else. Soil expands and gains immense weight when soaked by rain. Without clean aggregate backfill, perforated pipe, and open drainage paths, that hydrostatic water pressure pushes against the back of the wall until it tilts, cracks, or fails. Will my project require a permit?
